Have you been hearing the word “pivot” a lot lately?
It’s become a buzzword for when businesses change, need to recover from a tough period, or when the previous way of providing your services stops working.
This is certainly true for ADHD coaching businesses this year.
We have all had to change a bit over the last few months but instead of using the word ‘pivot’, I like to think of it as an opportunity to evolve your ADHD coaching business. To take this chance to create even better ways of servicing your clients. If you haven’t already, it’s time to consider how you are going to continue to deliver your services in a meaningful way moving forward.
Coaching has been providing long distance services for the past 25 years. However, many ADHD coaches and their clients still chose to meet in person until recently. This is no longer possible for most.
There may be a time again when social distancing is a thing of the past. But for now, this is a great opportunity to use our ADHD entrepreneurial creativity to adapt. To consider how to create new value for our ADHD clients and our coaching businesses.
When evolving your ADHD coaching business, consider these three things:
- Remember the long term. Any adaptations or changes ideally will be applicable in the future as well. Coaching remotely is one example. The increased knowledge, skill and use of technology as a connection tool is a great asset to us as ADHD Life Coaches. This change allows even more ADHD coaches to meet the continued, increased need for support and resources for the ADHD community locally and around the world.
- Change. Consider how to enhance or modify your services, products and expertise rather then having to recreate the wheel. Ask yourself what you already have or do that can be adapted to this new system?
- Think sustainable. Time and energy are precious commodities for ADHD coaching businesses and coaches. Keep in mind that this is a chance to add something that becomes a permanent part of your ADHD coaching business. Something that enhances your value as an ADHD Life Coach.
How can you find the pivot in your ADHD coaching business to meet evolving needs?
- Maintain and strengthen connections with your current list. Commit to consistent contact with your community. Newsletters, emails, and social media can all provide avenues for this.
- Create virtual resources. Webinars, online courses, videos, podcasts, Instagram and Facebook Live are great examples.
- Revisit old ideas. Now is the time to complete those projects, products, services or ideas that you put on the back burner. Finish that eBook, workbook, email sequence, opt-in, card deck, presentation, blog or book you started but never finalized.
- Build your community. Increase your activity with social media. Up your newsletter to twice a month. Host online live events and invite ADHD colleagues to join you on Facebook Live or Zoom.
- Do something special. Offer gift certificates, special pricing, gift subscriptions, scholarships for your coaching services.
- Explore new partnerships. Step outside the ADHD community box and access new markets and ideas that compliment your own work. Create bundled offers, products, services and resources for a win-win-win.
- Check your branding. With the uncertainty in the world, potential clients are looking for certain qualities in an ADHD Life Coach. Characteristics such as honesty, integrity, safety, trustworthiness, authenticity, consistency, experience, and expertise. Does your website and marketing materials show you in this light?
Making changes can be uncomfortable, scary and yet an exciting time for ADHD coaching businesses to meet the needs of our clients in an even greater way.
Now is a great time to experiment with new ideas and new ways of doing things. To make an even bigger positive impact in the lives of people living with ADHD. In many ways, the slate has been wiped clean. Fortunate for us creative entrepreneurs this is a chance to rewrite the rules for our ADHD coaching businesses.
